One of the guiding principles is providing influence to strengthen our community. While the Valley of Freeport and its members support many charities, we are especially proud of two that we support. The Children’s Dyslexia Center and Educational Scholarships.
Children’s Dyslexia Center
For over ten years, the Scottish Rite of Masons, Northern Masonic Jurisdiction, have been national leaders in the effort to help children and their families overcome the painful obstacles of dyslexia. The Children's Learning Centers tackle the challenge of dyslexia head-on, both by providing free tutoring for children with dyslexia and by training a growing cadre of highly skilled and dedicated tutors.
The Valley of Freeport supports the Children’s Dyslexia Center in the Freeport Masonic Temple. Providing this invaluable no-cost service to families and children of Northern Illinois.
Scholarships
The Scottish Rite Scholarships are sponsored by the Supreme Council, 33°, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Northern Masonic Jurisdiction, and the Illinois Council of Deliberation.
Several scholarships are available each year through the Scottish Rite, with multiple awards made in each category. Scholarship amounts awarded depend on available funding and the number of applicants and their qualifications.
