How To Join AASR or Symbolic (Blue) Lodge


In order to become a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies,
you must first be a member of a Symbolic Lodge, otherwise known as a Blue Lodge

Existing Members of a Symbolic (Blue) Lodge

PETITIONS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Petitioners for degrees and membership must be recommended by two members of the Valley of Freeport.  Applicants must be a Master Mason in good standing in regularly constituted Lodges of Master Masons recognized by the Grand Lodge of Illinois, and must have resided in Illinois at least one year and in the jurisdiction of the Valley of Freeport, or concurrent territory, for six months.  Waivers of jurisdiction, however, are permitted and recognized.  It is not necessary that lodge membership be held in Illinois.

FEES: (fees listed are for the Scottish Rite of Freeport, other Lodges may be higher or lower)
Lodge of Perfection, 4º through 14º

$ 35.00

Council of Princes of Jerusalem, 15º and 16º $ 30.00
Chapter of Rose Croix, 17º and 18º $ 30.00
Consistory, 19º through 32º

$ 30.00

Total Fee:

$ 125.00

($ 35.00 must accompany the petition)

 
DUES: (fees listed are for the Scottish Rite of Freeport, other Lodges may be higher or lower)
Dues for 2008 are $ 60.00 and are payable in advance.  Applicants are required to pay dues for one year when receiving the degrees.
A member may also opt for a 'Life Membership' in the Scottish Rite.

BALLOTING:
All petitions for the degrees to be conferred should be forwarded to the Secretary's office as early as possible before the reunion date for the necessary processing and balloting.  (Reunions are held in the Spring (March or April) and in the Fall (November).
 
AFFILIATIONS:
Any brother who holds a demit from this or any other Valley, and who resides within our jurisdiction, may affiliate without charge (except annual dues).  Phone, fax, write or email for affiliation forms.
REINSTATEMENTS AND RESTORATIONS:
If a member has been suspended or discharged and desires to reinstate or restore his membership, application blanks and detailed information may be obtained by contacting this office.

REUNIONS:

(Degrees in the AASR are performed at the Spring & Fall reunions)

When you register for a Scottish Rite Reunion, you will be required to exhibit your current Symbolic Lodge dues card.  This is necessary due to your membership in the Scottish Rite is dependent upon membership, in good standing, in a recognized Symbolic Lodge.
